The Training
Unified Psychotherapy will be described as one of five pathways to psychotherapy integration. Brief Unified Psychotherapy (BUP) focuses on the interaction between cognition, emotion, and behavior. BUP begins with a multidimensional survey that results in describing a maladaptive (red-light) pattern. Psychotherapists can help clients discover the origins of a dysfunctional pattern by exploring external contexts and internal influences. BUP results in the description of a more adaptive (green-light) pattern which clients can put into practice over time. Live demonstrations and small-group practice will be used to encourage practical application.
Learning Objectives
This educational activity is intended for Behavioral Health Professionals (including Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists).

- Describe how Unified Psychotherapy differs from other routes to integration.
- Explain a simple foundation for unified practice.
- Demonstrate a multidimensional survey with clients in order to describe a maladaptive pattern.
- Describe how external contexts and internal influences contribute to maladaptive patterns.
- Demonstrate how to work with clients to describe adaptive patterns.
- Explain how psychotherapists can encourage multidimensional change over time.
