Impact Therapy:  using active, creative approaches in short-term counseling with college students

Featuring Ed Jacobs, Ph.D., LPC, the founder of Impact Therapy and author of over 30 journal articles, as well as six books on counseling techniques.  Dr. Jacobs is the coordinator of the master’s program in counseling in the Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling & Counseling Psychology Department at West Virginia University, where he has taught for over 40 years.  Known for his engaging style, Dr. Jacobs is a sought-after speaker who presents more than 20 workshops each year on Impact Therapy, creative counseling, putting theory into practice and group counseling.
 
This active, creative workshop introduces new tools to therapists to make their time-limited therapy more effective, even with resistant clients.

  • Learn the 4 M’s of Impact Therapy
  • Recognize the 8 common mistakes of therapists
  • Understand the importance of the RCFFC map – rapport, contract, focus, funneling and close
